E-way Bill Generation Will Be Blocked Starting on March 1st Without B2B E-invoice Details

<p>Starting on March 1, companies with annual revenue more than Rs 5 crore will not be permitted to create e-way bills without including e-invoice data for every B2B transaction.</p>

<p>E-way bills are necessary for the interstate transportation of products valued at more than Rs 50,000 under the goods and services tax system.</p>
<p>According to the National Informatics Centre (NIC), some taxpayers who are qualified for electronic invoicing are producing electronic way bills independently of electronic invoices for business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-export (B2E) transactions.</p>
<p>Certain specifications are not being satisfied by the invoice information that are submitted separately under the e-way bill and e-invoice in certain of these circumstances. The e-way bill and e-invoice statements are becoming inconsistent as a result of this.</p>
<p>“… starting on March 1, 2024, e-way bill generation will not be permitted without e-invoice details in order to prevent such situations.” The NIC notified GST taxpayers that this was relevant to e-invoice enabled taxpayers as well as to transactions pertaining to B2B and export-related suppliers.</p>
<p>The NIC said that e-way bills for other transactions, such as B2C and non-supplies, would continue to operate normally.</p>
